Um eine grösstmögliche Konzentration zu erlangen wird im Weinberg besonders darauf geachtet die Erträge tief zu halten. Die auf diese Art erzielte Traubenqualität dient als Basis für diesen herrlichen Rioja-Alta.
The Rosengarten Report / The 50 greatest red Riojas (August 2004):
Valenciso is a very new bodwega, founded in 1998 by veterans of Bodegas Palacio. Their PR chatter is beautiful, as far as I'm concerned; they say things like "aromatic volume rather than phisical weight, in the manner of red Burgundies and the greatest Riojas of the past, is the Valencios ideal." They got on this list because the wine we tasted indeed has the right spirit; it is soft, smooth and cherry-sentenced. But it is darker, spicier and more minerally than the "greatest Riojas of the past" - landing on the palate a bit like a small-scale Priorat. Frankly, it is more for New Wavers than traditionalists - but Gerry and I both liked its wild countrs fllavors. God for ten years, but its ultimate profile is unknown.
Decanter / The World's Greatest (Okt. 2004):
Clean and strong. There is everything here: fruit-tannins balance. Needs time. Good length. 5-10 years. Silver.
